Agreement
CSA LA ABUNDANCIA SUBSCRIPTION AGREEMENT
We, the farm, wish to provide you with fresh, local, seasonal food from Puerto Rico and you, the subscriber, wish to receive a portion of our harvest. This agreement outlines our shared commitments to this subscription and the relationship between you and the farm. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined herein. Please refer to this agreement and print this page for your records.
Becoming a Member of CSA La Abundancia
- CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, which is commonly known as a subscription for vegetables and in some cases fruits and other natural local products. Subscribers pay in advance to separate their share of produce from the farm. The farmers and CSA La Abundancia team then use the money to continue to support growing operations and farm facilities to continue to provide a local sustainable food source for residents of Puerto Rico. In return, on a fixed schedule, the subscribers will receive a crate of produce from the CSA.
Growing Practices
- We believe in providing fresh, seasonal, local veggies, fruits and leaves from our farm and other local farms to your home. Most produce will come from central or central-west regions.
- We wish to inspire a deeper relationship and awareness of the food we eat and the earth that provides it so abundantly here on the island.
- We are transparent about our ecological farming practices; we do not use any synthetic pesticides, fertilizers or genetically modified seeds.
- Fertilizers used:
-
- We do use vegetable compost and aged animal manures and as fertilizers, and do not use any pesticides. Bugs have the right to take a few bites, too! Due to the way our farm ecosystem is set up (wild growing plants), the ecosystem is balanced in a way that is able to maintain itself without the need for pesticides or artificial fertilizers. We welcome any inquires about this stance or about our growing practices.
Shared Risk
- Those who subscribe to our farm have the opportunity to share the abundance of the year-long growing season in Puerto Rico.
- With this opportunity, come risks that are in Mother Nature’s control. We are committed to do our best to provide a plentiful share of produce every time you receive a crate, but the quantity and variation of produce may vary depending on extreme weather, insects or other factors.
- In the unlikely instance a catastrophic event that causes crop failure (for example another Hurricane Maria), we will be transparent about the ability to continue to provide crops to our subscribers. There will not be any further payments received by the CSA from subscribers in the case that produce cannot be provided.
- Payments that have already been processed will not be refunded in the case of crop failure.
